Cristie Baron
Hi! I’m so glad you found us. I am a working artist and creative influencer in Northern California. Sharing the the world of arts with all ages is exciting and inspiring. I am dedicated to making art fun and doable for everyone. I believe there is value in the process of art and that all can learn through it no matter the final product. I own Joyful Art Studio, an art studio that provides classes in painting, mixed media and much more! With a growing team of artists, we have a mission of sharing our individual creative gifts with others to bring the JOY of art to our community.
Below you can check out our growing team!
I have been creating and crafting since childhood. I love to learn new skills and explore every medium. Creating art in whatever form, keeps me from perfectionist tendencies, and reminds me that the process of learning, struggling and growing in my skills (and in life) is more important than the finished product. I truly believe everyone is an artist, but we all have different mediums we are drawn to. I love helping others discover their own creativity and find true enjoyment in their creations. In local schools and churches, I have worked with all ages, babies to seniors, and I enjoy them all!
I am a retired elementary school teacher who has always believed in the importance of bringing art into the classroom experience. Many of my lessons for children are STEAM related, combining art with science and math.
I am the education chair of the Vacaville Art League and Gallery and have taught children and adult classes there. Along with working with Cristie at Joyful Art Studio, I also work at the Discovery Hub bringing fun and engaging STEAM classes to children.
Hi, my name is Angela Horn. I have been a mixed media artist for over twenty years. I love to teach all types of classes but I specialize in the medium of watercolor. Art is such a beautiful way to express yourself, be seen, or inspire. Art is also grounding and healing. I support the idea of having joy in the process of creating. I love this community and look forward to sharing my experience and process with others.
Art has been a lifelong journey and a calling. As a kid, the greatest feeling was being lost in creative inspiration, making up characters, stories, and trying to see what my best could be. Decades later, that has not changed, thankfully. I attended The Academy Of Art in San Francisco for a couple years, but like many aspiring art students…life happened, and I went on the long journey towards finding my true artistic direction. My passion is drawing photorealistic portraits and compositions, as well as writing stories and drawing sequential art (a fancy term for “Comic books”). I traveled the country as a participant in various comic conventions for a few years where I learned a great deal about being an independent artist and interfacing with the public. Nowadays, most of the time spent in my art studio is dedicated to working on my graphic novel and developing my skill set.
Artists need inspiration and support. I want to contribute to that. It has been said “The Earth without art is just ‘eh”. I couldn't agree more. I am inspired to share what has been learned over the years and to help fuel the artist in everyone. As an eternal student, I find the best way to learn is to teach. Let's learn and grow together!
I have loved art and creating since I was a child. As life has gotten busier and busier, nothing is more wonderful than getting to create with children. I’ve loved working with children from a very young age and there’s nothing I love to see more than a child’s creativity at work. I’m currently in school to be an Early Elementary School Teacher. For now, I get to spend all of my extra time teaching classes here at the Joyful Art Studio! There is something truly special about teaching art. I hope to see your child or you in a class soon!
I am a full time student, part time nanny, and I currently teach art in two locations. Despite my busy schedule, I love making room for art in my life and being able to share my passion with others. I strongly believe that everyone should have access to art as a way to unlock their creativity and as a way to express themselves. I have worked with a variety of mediums over the years and have a lot of experience with children. I am honored to be an instructor at this studio and I look forward to seeing you or your children in the future!
